K-12 Arts Content Standards
On June 14, 2011, the State Board of Education (SBE) adopted the Michigan Standards, Benchmarks, and Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE) for Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theater as the state K-12 arts content standards. The Michigan Standards, Benchmarks, and GLCE for Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theater define what students are expected to know and do in the arts in grades K-12, and align to both 21st Century Skills and to the 2006 Michigan Merit Curriculum Guidelines for the Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts. The Michigan Standards, Benchmarks, and GLCE for Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theater are available for review and download.
