Parents/Guardians,
Late last night Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced a Statewide order to close schools from Monday, March 16th through Sunday April, 5th due to the Coronavirus or COVID-19. Harper Creek Community Schools will be closed during this time-frame. We will continue with the scheduled spring break of April 6th through April 10th with school resuming on Monday, April 13th. I do want to be clear that all school events and activities will be canceled through spring break.
In order to continue the education of our students, staff is working today to create lessons, activities, and suggestions for parents on how to continue the education of their children’s at home. The District will host all information regarding the education of students at grade level on www.harpercreek.net, which will be posted by Tuesday, March 17th. Any paper copies or packets of work that are referenced in the document will be housed in the administration building at the corner of B Drive North and Beadle Lake Road.
The middle school and high school are both open until 4:00 PM today if you would like to come and get your student’s book, locker contents, or necessary medication.
Harper Creek Community Schools will have food available for students in need during the closure and we will send specific information when logistics are completed.
Parents, you are the primary educator in your children’s lives. You have been given a huge responsibility. Please do everything you can to keep a schedule of educational activities at home. This includes reading up to 90 minutes a day. We will work in partnership to give you resources so you can be supported. Remember this is temporary postponement of our regular lives and we will get back to normal soon. We need to be the leaders to reassure our kids that we are strong. Together we can do unbelievable things.
Take Care,
Rob Ridgeway
