Dear Families,

I continue to be optimistic that in-school learning will take place for the 2020-21 school year and hopeful to see our students in our school buildings in the fall. I understand so much is yet to be determined on how we operate - as a school district and country. More now than ever we need flexibility and viable options that work for all students and families.

For those reasons, I am pleased to announce the new Harper Creek Community Schools 2020-21 Online Learning Platform Option for kindergarten through twelfth grade students whose families are not comfortable sending their children to school for in-person learning due to COVID-19. It is important to note that the 2020-21 HC online learning platform is not the same as our current platform. The new platform blends the best of current practice and is enriched with academic integrity, including but not limited to:

• Whole child focus
• Direct engaging communication
• Academically challenging
• Rigorous curriculum
• Global competencies – character, citizenship, communications, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration

We know there are many virtual school options available that count themselves as experts because they have been offering virtual learning for many years. However, Harper Creek’s online learning platform is community based, just like our traditional in-person learning, and this is what sets us apart from other virtual school options. We are steadfast in our commitment to our students, families, and community members, whether our partnership be via online or in-person learning.

Harper Creek Community Schools continues to be the heart of the community. Families come to Harper Creek and remain. Alumni stay connected and committed. Once a Beaver, always a Beaver – steadfast, loyal and hardworking.

If you are interested in sending your student(s) to our online learning platform instead of in-person learning next year, please complete a short survey. By completing the survey you are letting us know you may be interested in our online learning option, however, this does not commit your student(s) to the program. We want you to know your options and allow you time to make informed decisions.

All my best,

Robert Ridgeway
Superintendent
