Grant Opportunities

Innovation in Education Grants from the Battle Creek Community Foundation. Any staff member (i.e., maintenance, food service, teachers, paraprofessionals, etc.) of a school in the greater Battle Creek area is invited to apply. The project or idea must be considered innovative. We define Innovation as: something entirely new, or something that has been done before but now has a new approach, method or device to produce different results. Our goal is to encourage innovation in educators and local schools. The deadline for submission is the first business day of every month. If you have any questions, please call any one of our grantmaking staff at 269.962.2181 and they will be happy to assist you. You may access the application electronically.

K-12 Arts Content Standards

On June 14, 2011, the State Board of Education (SBE) adopted the Michigan Standards, Benchmarks, and Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE) for Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theater as the state K-12 arts content standards. The Michigan Standards, Benchmarks, and GLCE for Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theater define what students are expected to know and do in the arts in grades K-12, and align to both 21st Century Skills and to the 2006 Michigan Merit Curriculum Guidelines for the Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts. The Michigan Standards, Benchmarks, and GLCE for Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theater are available for review and download.
